Scenario Loop
Building on the CROSS structure CoSi has extended the underlying framework to conduct three Scenario Loops until 2032. Each Loop consists of two phases in which different aspects of the energy transition will be covered: the first phase are the CROSS scenarios covering the aggregated, national energy system development providing the big picture; the second phase are the CoSi Deep Dives addressing sub-topics, regional, cantonal or local dimensions, and other follow-up question will be addressed. After each loop the results and insight will be taken up for the following Scenario loop. A basic overview on the current scenario process is providing in this working document: CoSi Scenarios Vision
The first Scenario Loop starts in 2025. A first scenario workshop with the Swiss energy research and stakeholder community is planned for May 12th 2025 building upon the insights gathered during 2024. After defining the first phase scenario outlet the participating model and research teams will conduct the respective investigations and provide their results. Those will inform the second phase and be complemented by respective follow-up research on the to be defined sub-questions. CoSi aims for a transdisciplinary structure ensuring that the derived scientific insights provide answers to the questions of Swiss stakeholders.
